[council] DNSO schedule for ICANN Director elections

To the Names Council:

Could one of you please update me on the status of your schedule for ICANN
Director elections?  Has a schedule been set for the nomination and
elections process?

As you know, the ICANN Bylaws require the SOs to elect their three Directors
to the ICANN Board "as soon as feasible after formation..."  [Bylaws, Art.
V, Sec. 2]  In particular, the Board has asked the SOs to have their
Directors elected in time to be seated at the next ICANN meetings in Los
Angeles, November 2-4.  Accordingly, as a practical matter, the DNSO
Directors need to be chosen by the Names Council no later than October 15.
In anticipation of that date, ICANN staff suggested a September 15 deadline
for constituency group proposals for final recognition -- has the Names
Council adopted or modified that date as part of its schedule?  If I am to
be able to schedule a Board teleconference to consider final applications, I
need to know whether and when to expect them.

The other two SOs appear to be confident of their ability to have their
Directors elected in time -- I trust the Names Council is working diligently
to ensure that the DNSO is not left unrepresented on the ICANN Board any
longer than necessary.
