Re: [council] Convention-Style Voting adapted to the DNSO conditions

Nigel, fellow NC reps,

I am sorry, this is a little digression, but I thought the point
should be made...

While I am in favor of pre-announcing all NC business, and allowing
for ample time to digest and ponder upon our business, in this
instance, we all know that we are under a strict timeline. Thus
I believe we should attempt to honor that timeline.

We are on Internet time here, there are no "working hours" as
far as I am concerned. I think we should start taking our roles
as NC members a little more seriously. If it means we have to
start checking mail on weekends... well we volunteered for these
positions. If we don't want to make this kind of sacrifice, then I
think we should give up our seats to someone who is willing to
do so.

Just for a matter of reference, the last 2 NC teleconferences
have been held on Japanese national holidays at after 10:00pm.
If Hotta-san or myself were sticking to family time and sticking
to "working hours" we wouldn't be able to participate in ANY
of the NC meetings. I do not begrudge the timing, I volunteered
for this task, and I think I owe it to my constituency and the
DNSO as a whole to participate to the best of my ability.

Having said that, for the permanent NC members, they should
not have to worry about any of these rushed schedules, as long
as they get organized :-) Sorry to rant, but I think we should
try to refrain from referring to "our" working hours - collectively
we will commit ourselves to 24/7 hours!

Regards,
Richard
