[council] Webcast Participation Statistics

Remote participation statistics for the LA and Santiago public meetings are
available from their respective online archives:
<http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/icann/la/archive> and
<http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/icann/santiago/archive>.  You'll find the
pages in question in the "Miscellaneous Links" section at the bottom of each
page. In particular, the following four pages are the ones of greatest
interest:

<http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/icann/la/archive/stats.html>
<http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/icann/la/archive/remoteparticipants-geography.
html>
<http://cyber.law.harvard.edu/icann/santiago/archive/stats.html>

(filenames are self-evident, I believe)

My quick calculations on today's webcast show that you had nineteen distinct
users listening for approximately 10 person-hours total. In other words, on
average, each person tuning into the live webcast stayed for a bit over half
an hour. Note that another 20 users listened to (portions of) the archived
recording as it was promoted prominently on the Berkman Center home page all
afternoon today and will remain there for at least tomorrow (Thursday).

If you'd like to increase turnout at these webcasts, some suggestions:

* The front page of dnso.org might be updated to mention the webcast
specifically (in addition to the NC teleconference generally).

* You might establish a special "announce" mailing list specifically for
DNSO-related webcasts, and/or you might feature webcasting more prominently
in current announcement messages.

* The day before each webcast, you might send an announcement message to all
those who tuned in for remote participation in DNSO meetings in Berlin,
Santiago, and LA. I'd be happy to provide the list of email addresses
required for this tactic, and/or send such an announcement myself, if the
Names Council thinks that such a message is appropriate and desirable.
