[council] IANA Report on .ca Redelegation
To the Names Council:
In late 1998 the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) was
formed to assume responsibility from the University of British Columbia
for operation of the .ca (Canada) country-code top-level domain. In May
2000, CIRA, the University, and the Canadian government reached an
agreement for transition of that responsibility to CIRA. The IANA
received a formal request for the redelegation and, under ICANN's
contract for the IANA function has provided a report recommending the
redelegation to the United States Department of Commerce. A copy of the
IANA report is posted at
<http://www.iana.org/cctld/reports/ca-report-01dec00.htm>.
Best regards,
