[council] Business Constituency representation
We are pleased to announce, following the appointment of
Masanobu Katoh to the ICANN Board, that Grant Forsyth has been co-opted to
represent the Business Constituency at the Names Council. Grant is
Manager Industry & Regulatory Affairs, CLEAR Communications Ltd, New Zealand
and a member of the business constituency.
Grant will serve the rest of the term of office that Katoh
would have completed. All three BC representative posts to the Names Council
will be open for fresh elections this Autumn.
Grant has told us that he has "the full support of his organisation to represent
the BC in the belief that the international framework will have a very real
commercial impact directly at the national level". Grant has previous
experience in the formation of an e-commerce group within TUANZ (the
Telecommunications Users Association of NZ) of which he is a previous CEO
and where he was "instrumental in public
policy formation in an environment that included individual business
constituents - whose interests and participation varied from disinterested to
passionate".
