RE: [council] Farewell Council !

Hi Michael,
I am sorry to hear you will no longer be participating on the NC - you
brought a sharp intellect to our deliberations and you will be much missed!
I hope our paths will cross again.

Subject: [council] Farewell Council !

Council,

After two years on the Names Council I have decided to resign at the ICANN
Meeting in Stockholm and also to give up my position as chairman of the
ISPCP.

This has not been an easy decision, as I have enjoyed working with you,
despite or even because of all our passionate discussions. However, for
some time now my professional commitments have left me so little time that
I have had no choice but to give up gradually my numerous offices in
various associations and committees. Nevertheless, we will still be seeing
each other frequently, as I plan to attend ICANN Meetings fairly regularly
and also participate occasionally in NC conference calls (naturally in
"listen only" mode ;-)

While it may seem unusual that I am notifying you of my decision only after
my constituency has elected a successor, I felt it was better to avoid a
long period as a standby member, particularly as this approach enabled me
to adequately represent the interests of my constituency in connection with
the Verisign agreements.

Best regards,
Michael

P.S.: Is there actually an NC dinner in Stockholm ? I have not read all the
postings in the last few weeks because of various business trips and
vacation ... I would love to see you for a drink and have a nice last
evening together (at least in my capacity as a member).
