[council] Posting to the NC list
Jeff,
At your suggestion at its February 14 meeting, the NC discussed the idea of
extending posting rights to constituency secretariats or chairs of
constituencies.
Overall the NC did not support a change in current practice. It was felt
that the principle that information and opinion on the public NC lists is
that of the elected members is an important one.
However the NC did recognise that there may be times when an important
message should be known to the NC and a secretariat or chair cannot access
all three of its members. In this rare event it was felt that now that we
have a full time DNSO secretariat, then the DNSO secretariat should be
contacted with a request to post to the NC explaining the circumstances. The
DNSO secretariat would assess the importance and urgency of the request and
typically post to the list with a brief explanation of the special
circumstances.
The NC would be happy to revisit this issue should the frequency of the
events described above escalate.

NC Chair
