An announcement of the issuance of the preliminary .org evaluation
report has been posted at

Special thanks are due to the participants in the DNSO NCDNHC who 
assisted greatly in the evaluation.  The NCDNHC evaluation report is 
posted at

Other underlying evaluation reports were prepared by Gartner, Inc., a 
team of academic CIOs, and me as ICANN General Counsel.

We invite the community to carefully review the reports and submit any 
comments on the draft report by e-mail to <org-eval@icann.org> on or 
before 29 August 2002.  The evaluation report is scheduled to be 
finalized on 5 September 2002, and the ICANN Board is expected to act in 
late September, so that the transition can occur as scheduled on 1 
January 2003.
