Please note that I voted against this proposal because I saw no need for additional time to "complete administrative work," certainly not two weeks or a month. I joked at the time that I voted no because I wanted the TF to "go on forever." That was pure irony. But apparently one Council member took it literally.

The WHOIS TF has completed its work. Its terms of reference have been fulfilled. It is over. There can be no more reports from it.

A never-ending TF risks becoming a personal vehicle for one or two Council members to "own" certain policy areas and (as is occurring here) unilaterally give their own opinions the imprimatur of a Council organ. I am not alone in viewing this as a major violation of Council procedure, and a threat to the trust and consensus required for cooperation on the Council.

The vote of the Council clearlty specifies that the WHOIS TF email list will be shut down two weeks after the vote. Two weeks is up. I request that the chair instruct the secretariat to shut down the WHOIS list without further delay.
