- - Webcast of ICANN Roundtable - -
The Internet community is on the brink of holding a
first-of-its-kind global election. The Internet
Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)
will soon elect leaders to help direct its critical
responsibilities for the technical management of the
Internet. This ICANN At-Large election presents the
Internet community with tremendously important
questions: Who will be represented in ICANN decision-
making? Will that decision-making reflect the global
diversity of the Internet? Will ICANN's decisions be
made in the interest of those in the Internet
community who will be affected by them?
Common Cause and the Center for Democracy and
Technology (CDT), with support from the Markle
Foundation, are performing an independent study of
the ICANN At-Large elections process. Common Cause and
CDT are convening leaders from the Internet community,
as well as experts from many disciplines, to share
opinions, ideas and expertise on how the public interest
can be served in this election process.
On February 9, as a part of this effort, a roundtable
discussion will bring together leading thinkers in the
fields of voting, elections and democratic process to
discuss the upcoming ICANN At-Large election. For more
information, or to view the live webcast of the event, see:
