FYI

roundtrip flights from California to  Tokyo were $800 last week and are
now 1100. Hotels are also filling up because of the INET 2000 meeting in
Yokohama directly after ICANN.

make your reservations *early* as hotels are filling and flights are
increasing in price. don't wait!!!

Also it is very difficult to find a room for the 21st as there is some big
party/fireworks show on the evening of the 21st. currently you can't even
book the 21st in any hotel near the water.
