Joe,
It all stems from the one thing that many of us have been griping
about for years; that the gTLD servers were ALSO the root
servers. That this came about due to an attempt to correct this
inadequacy, on NSI's part, is only a natural consequence of the
original screw-up.
Yes, they didn't handle the migration as smoothly as we would
hope. However, that they are FINALLY working to correct the
situation is to be applauded.
