Right. I do not want to have the power to stop them either; I think people
who do stupid things should be allowed to do so (within reasonable limits).
What I WOULD like is to have a course of practice that I can recommend to
people; at the moment my recommended practice is to use the ICANN root.
I cannot in sanity recommend what I think is the consequence of what Jefsey
is saying.
I fail to see the difference at an abstract level between ICANN and the
game theory you propose; ICANN *is* an attempt at "A game theory approach
whereby we all co-operate for the good of the whole". It is just that we
are ruinously bad at playing this game.
We have seen the enemy, and he is us.
