[ga] Domain NIC.INFO now on appraisal on Afternic
That's right. In fact it is the domain nic.info registered through name.space.
--> if you use advanced DNS: http://www.nic.info
--> if you use antique (ICANN) DNS: http://nic.info.xs2.net
--> http://www.afternic.com/~nic.info
My theorie is, that the "alt" or Original TLDs/Domains will profit from the duplication
of TLDs/Domains by ICANN and Afilias/Neulevel.
The Original top level domain (TLD) .info was established long before the one from Afilias. Therefore Afilias is introducing duplicate domain names. Because of this damage on the DNS Afilias' .info is not supported by the whole internet. Following root server corporations don't support Afilias' .info and support an other version of the .info TLD:*
Name.Space
The PacificRoot
The Universal Registry
This means that only 90 to 95% of the internet users can access the .info domain from Afilias. In the reverse conclusion this means that the Original .info domains get 5 to 10% of the traffic of the Afilias' .info domains!**
Imagine you were the registrant of the Original domain sex.info. You could get up to 10% of the traffic of the domain sex.info from Afilias!
What do you think? Could that theorie come true?
*according to the IRON data on 2001-08-27
**according to figures from The PacificRoot and The Universal Registry
