This is confusing two types of ownership here. If you have a
long-term lease on land you own the lease, you do not own the land.
Likewise for domain names a registrant does not (IMO) own a domain
name. They arguably may own a contractual right to use the name and
transfer or sell the use of the name but that is different to actually
owning the name.
