...and this is a good thing? Those consumer
organizations normally form as the sole recourse
against abuses from the industry's providers, in the
absence of proper representation in the process.
If the non-existence of a certain group of entities
would cause the end of an ENTIRE industry, including
the disband of any regulatory organizations for that
particular industry, it stands to reason those
entities hold a stake in the process.
Aunt Agatha aside, I suspect there are more than
several user entities who have a direct active
interest in ICANN and Internet regulation in general,
in the same way they have an interest in their own
houses. They pay for both.
