Indeed, having a public election of any type would greatly decrease the 
chances for big business to hand pick our elected directors:  I see your 
point.  It would be a disaster for the ICANN to have to include 
knowledgeable or experienced folks, better to have people so far up the 
corporate butt that they haven't got a clue about new technology or what it 
means to be a decent, fair person.
