this is a clear indication icann is not in the business of technical
stability. getting copies of the registry databases is irrelevant to
technical security. the real term for it is invasion of privacy.
now keeping the name servers listed in the root zone updated is part of of
what is termed internet stability - and obviously icann is not interested
in that.
the news article made me laugh.
