That isn't what new.net is doing.
It is a myth that has been perpetrated.
New.net actually resolves second level domains like any other
alt.root/tld operator.
The 4th level domain ALSO exists, but only to provide a means for
easily doing the resolution with the plug-in.
Don't believe the anti-new.net hype that claims they are not offering
"real" second level domains.
It simply isn't true.
