[ga] Polling results
Some time ago I put up four questions for GA members at
www.democracy.org.nz/vote1 and before I remove them to the archive
tomorrow, I give you the results here, FWIW. Please excuse the formatting,
pasted from the web.
1.Is the DNSO a place where democracy should be practiced?
(voters were asked to rate their preference on a sliding scale)

Comments:
-Democracy among members, but I wouldn't allow outsiders to vote.
-Slider bar wouldn't move. Put it two thirds of the way to the right for
me, as
pure democracy requires unanymity. Consensus
is somewhere between 50%
and 66%.
-Generally, I feel democracy is either 100% or it isn't democracy!
-Democracy does not require unanimity, it requires acceptance of the
reasonable will of the majority. The word
reasonable is critical.
pure democracy does not protect important
minority interests.
Result: 11 of the 17 say 80% or more for democracy, only 2 rate it lower
than 50% (35 and 20)
2. A DNSO constituency for Individual Domain Name holders?

Comments:
The individual is the greatest stakeholder
with the most to lose, and would
otherwise not be represented.
3. Recommending an IDNO constituency to the ICANN Board?

Comments:
-It is the best way to show that the DNSO
actually can constitute itself fairly.
-The DNSO shalll recomend to the ICANN Board
that IDNO be admitted
as a constituency to represent the concerns
and interests of Individual
Domain Name holders.
-The DNSO would otherwise be a threat to
those they were to represent to
begin with.
4. Acceptable to the DNSO General Assembly members to use this polling
booth in the interim?

Comments: none
For what it is worth, the opinions about admitting an IDNO to the DNSO are
unanimous. No member of the GA took the trouble to go to the booth and
vote NO.
