[ga] ICANN Announces Cairo to be Site of March 2000 Meetings
ICANN is pleased to announce that its next round of meetings (March 7-10,
2000) will be held in Cairo, Egypt. Details about the meetings have been
posted at <http://www.icann.org/cairo2000/cairo-details.htm>; the page will
be updated regularly with new information.
ICANN thanks the members of the local host committee, chaired by Tarek Kamel
and sponsored by the Egyptian Ministry of Communication, the Cabinet
Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC), and the Internet Society of
Egypt.
Excellent proposals were submitted by a number of prospective hosts in
Africa and the Middle East, and ICANN thanks all proposers for their
generous offers of assistance. While the Cairo host committee's proposal
best matches ICANN's particular requirements for the March meetings, ICANN
recognizes the importance of sub-Saharan Africa's Internet communities and,
in particular, is committed to facilitating participation by Africans from
around the continent.
