I have never gotten guardian to work "reliably", nor have many others.
However, I do agree that strict authentication is required for
registrant<->registry, registrant<->registrar, and registrar<->registry
interactions. An insecure option should not exist. In fact, NSI no longer
authenticates via eMail. My last DNS registrations were authenticated via
"plastique".

I disagree in this case.

NSI offers people the use of PGP authentication or even basic password
authentication for the protection of their data in the NSI database.
