RE: [ga] Netsol spam: Please try again... (fwd)
There is little new with regard to VeriSign administering the .us domain
except that previously it was done indirectly under a subcontract for
VeriSign and now it is done directly by VeriSign Global Registry Services
because the subcontractor did not want to continue performing the service.
I wish you were right that we "snatched up the .us ccTLD" but we are only
continuing to fulfill our obligations until DoC is able to put it out for
bidding.

Even though the "Names Council Warns Pre-Registration of Speculative New
Domain Names Is Premature"
[http://www.icann.org/announcements/icann-pr29sep00.htm], I guess it's OK
for NSI to do it -- but, nobody else can.
Speaking of NSI... did anybody else notice that they snatched up the .us
CCtld ? Check out http://www.nic.us/:
"The US Domain Registry is administered by VeriSign, Inc."
So much for the competition that gTLDs were supposed to introduce.
Regards,
Kendall
