Incidentally, UN NGO status is not something you get just by writing an
application, but only by providing a framework of international traties,
ratified by the applicant member states, by compliance with the UN rules
(that, BTW, will not accept having most of the staff and the top executives
coming from one country), ...
All this will take a large amount of time, and is formally opposed by one
country, the US, that seems to me not to play a minor role ;>).
In other words, the possibility of putting (some of) the Internet Governance
under the umbrella of the UN is just the last resort, if everything else
fails. At present, it is not an option.
