ICANN WILL INVESTIGATE WHOIS PRIVACY CONCERNS
ICANN has launched a study to gauge privacy concerns raised by the
abundance of personal information contained in the Whois database.
Privacy groups have criticized VeriSign for selling information about
its Network Solutions registrants, arguing that many of them are
individuals who never agreed to have their information sold as a
commodity when they signed up for a domain name.

DOT-COM VS. DOT-CO?
Reuters reports that Columbia could pose the greatest challenge yet to
the supremacy of the .com domain suffix if a Colombian university
successfully turns the country's .co suffix into a global domain. The
university is inviting bids from firms that would market the domain name
internationally as a convenient alternative to .com.
