Keith Teare, CEO of RealNames, "believes this new naming system is possible
using the foundation of an unchanged DNS and adding new functionality either
above or alongside the current system. He is supportive of the ongoing work
of the IETF and ICANN to maintain a single root server for DNS, as well as
current proposals for the creation of an overlay DNS directory services
layer. The RealNames Keyword naming system and supporting resolution
services platform already embody much of the proposed functionality for
unified naming. Teare proposes Keyword-based services as an important part
of the solution for an industry-wide initiative to build naming standards
within a common discovery and resolution layer that enables
access across all networks through their applications."

Joanna
