[ga] Congressman Howard Berman
posted to registrars list:
Dear All - Register.com is pleased to invite you to breakfast and
conversation with Congressman Howard Berman at 7:30 am - 8:15 am on Monday,
November 12 at the Marriott in Marina del Rey (Room TBA).
Congressman Berman will provide the view from Washington: How the newly
security-conscious environment among US policy makers and legislators
affects the domain name system and particularly the state of IP protections
on the Internet."
As you know, Congressman Berman is the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on
Courts, the Internet, and Member of the Intellectual Property Subcommittee
on Immigration and Claims, as well as one of the key Members on the
International Relations Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. He
is one of the leading IP experts on the Hill and well-versed in domain name
issues, having participated in Judiciary hearings and briefings on ICANN.
His discussion of the effects of the heightened security environment in
Washington DC on Internet business and intellectual property interests fits
well with the overall security theme of the ICANN meeting. For further
information, please see his website at http://www.house.gov/berman/.
We hope that you will join Congressman Berman and please send this
invitation to all ICANN Board Members, staff, and others within the DNSO
constituencies! Please also RSVP to Brandon Paine at bpaine@register.com.
