[ga] NEXT STEPS: 7 days left to a GA Vote
The Chair of the General Assembly has stated that due to time constraints on
the DNSO Secretariat, "the most reasonable window for beginning a vote is
the week between May 13 and May 17." and that "For a proposed resolution to
be included with the ballot, the following
three conditions must be fulfilled: (1) It should be a statement on
ICANN structure, mission, and a possible re-bid. (2) There should be
ten supporters. (3) The resolution's final text, and the list of
supporters, should be posted to this list no later than May 10.

One or more Resolutions may result from recent discussions under the Subject
thread:-
"Motion asking for GA poll on rebid of ICANN contract" - Jamie Love,
Proponent
Under the Best Practices (BP) procedure, this Issue is ripe for treatment,
as evidenced by the results of the recent Polls, hence the "floor" is now
open for Proposals.
Jamie can re-enter his "Motion" as a Proposal (or he can argue that has
already been done) and through ongoing Debate, that Proposal could end up
being amended, or alternative Proposals could be advanced. If more than one
Proposal is finalized (and hence Accepted), and it is clear that neither one
negates the other, both can be Recognized as Motions to be Debated.
(Conflicting Proposals would have to be run through a Poll.) Once Debated,
the final text of the Motion(s) must then be supported by 10 or more
supporters,(as per the Chair), then each would proceed on separate Ballots
for a Vote of the Assembly on May 13.
A person favoring A over B would vote on both, with a "Yes" for A and a "No"
for B -- there would be no vote splitting.
-- see esp. http://www.cerebalaw.com/BPIVial.htm.
There are 7 days left in which to get this, and any other Resolutions
through this process.
Regards,
Joanna
