That may be true, but such "peace" comes from  laymen applicants' ignorance about behind-the-curtain details.

There is no reason for experts to take it for granted the inevitable timezone disadvantages and 
irregular/skewed/flucutating success rate distributions among registrars due to frequent & unnoticable
shutdown-and-rebooting registry or incompetent network topologies of registrars.
 
These details are often hidden from laymen registrants. Fairness should not be based on ignorance.
With realtime FCFS landrush, applicants are not in the same race starting point which can't be
seen and verified by them  before and even after the race.
