   I am pleased to announce that Bruce Tonkin, of the Registrars
   Constituency, has been elected Chair of the Names Council with effect
   from 1st September for a term of office of six months. I wish him much
   success.



   Please find attached a short report with highlights of the progress of
   the Names Council during my chairmanship.
