FYI we expect to soon provide as free software a technical solution
to this problem (many protocols and many different versions of the
same protocol), which is the software we are using to handle 4
Registries with 2 different protocols, one of them (EPP) having three
different versions, by hiding those differences as much as possible.
It seems to work pretty well.
We hope this may be helpful and to announce it shortly.
If there is enough interest and participation, this could be a
``universal'' toolkit, which can be used with many Registries.
