Incorrect.
The hardware address is the Media Access Control -- the MAC address is
a unique address assigned to every Network Interface Card. An IP
Address is a software-based address that is generally controlled
through TCP software installed on the device.
As far as "brainware" that makes absolutely no sense in this context,
because it has nothing to do with addressing.
