They are just as relevant today as they were two years ago. Indeed, the need
for a standard definition is as important today as it ever was. Which is
probably why ICANN and the IETF shy away from establishing a fixed
definition. As log as the ontology of domain names remains unfixed, those
who have power/influence over the DNS and its management can do pretty much
what they like...
Are we closer to a definition? Not if "we" leave it up to ICANN.
