Too messy, very inappropriate, takes too long to apply and remove. When
one is wearing a suit and protesting the goal is to be able to slip in and
out of the protest with a minimum of effort. What better method then the
funny hat. One can make a fashion statement while discrediting the
process. And least we forget, protect oneself from UV radiation.

Your 100% on the ball here. Problem is if these conferences are an
example of conduct, not many people are acting nice. So failing civil
conduct we anticipate a display of funny hats will take the edge off
proceedings.
