Re: [ga] We "decided" to defer the election of our ICANN board seats
Dear Chon, Javier, and all,
perhaps a way to activate the GA a bit more is to invite all members of
constituency mailing lists to join the GA and its list.
The GA is too restricted in its present membership to allow the exclusion
of constituency members. We must proselitize for memebership in the GA
again, both within the present DNSO and outside it, ie bringing in new,
relevant, honest membership in time for their finding out of what's going
on and then participating.
Also WG and wg lists should be involved at once.
We should start nominations ASAP in order to have a clear discussion of
them, and to have time to gather adequate support for each. Statements by
nominees, as were made in the NCDNHC Names Council election, should be
forthcoming within 48-72 hours if they are nominated by someone else, and
of course should accompany self-nominations.
Does anybody have specific proposals of a few key questions that should be
addressed by nominees? They should, IMO, cover the interests and more
importantly the *principles* of their own constituency, relevance of
technical background and proven record in public organizations (whence we
can deduct something about honesty, consistency, availability for the
task, etc.), and a view of the future for ICANN's work.
