RE: [nc-budget] Job Description for DNSO Secretariat/ budget
One more comment. It would certainly make sense to have the solicitation of
funds document translated into multiple languages. That shouldn't cost too
much.

I am fully supportive of Peter's suggestion but we also need to be
realistic. We all recognized in our meeting last Friday that it wasn't
clear we would have enough to fund just the Secretariat function. The more
costs we add, the more items we will not be able to fund. I would suggest
adding this item as one that is planned if funds are available; maybe that
will be a motivator for more contributions.

Ken, as we all know, unless there is a "pay to play" scenario, the job does
not get done.
I'd rather see a line item in the budget for the translations from the
start.
Then, we get some organization to donate (underwrite, sponsor, etc) that
item,
or a percentage of the entire budget.
Let's put the money in place to buy the services we need, and not rely on
the pro bono volunteers. That way we will have a consistent result- because
if we don't get the proper service we just hire another contractor.
Actually, I find it a lot easier to raise money ( actual cash ) than to find
volunteers to perform a service, let alone to guarantee that the (pro bono)
service will be performed in a consistent, timely manner.

that is an excellent idea peter...
if you can find someone to facilitate this function on a "pro bono basis"
then we would be most happy to put this is place
