Re: [nc-review] Second draft report of the review TF
Philipp,
Excuse my lack of inputs during the discussions but I was not very often at
home in the last few weeks - so I hope it is not too late.
4. Language diversity
translation of documents into a reduced number of languages as a
short term approach could be foreseen. Translation into the most
spoken languages in a diversity of countries e.g. UN working
languages to start with. This short term approach will allow to
evaluate the feasibility and costs of this project. A long-term
approach will consist in identify other languages.
despite that voluntary translation is very much desirable, it
could add some unreliability to the process - are these voluntary
translations reliable? or DNSO risk to mislead people instead if
the quality of translation is not high. This is a risk that need
to be taken into consideration.
could DNSO approach organizations such Francophonie,
Organizations of American States, etc. to help in the translation
tasks. I think these organizations have some responsibility in
this area vis-ą-vis their cultural communities.
I agree with the rest of the document !

Subject : [nc-review] Second draft report of the review TF
Attachment(s) Removed : Interim report review task force v2.doc
Task force members,
thank you for your feedback on the first draft interim report. I have done
my best to incorporate non-conflictual amendments in this new draft.
Could I ask for your approval on this as representing the majority view of
the task force, so that I can submit it simultaneously for public comment
to the GA, NC and constituencies?
After that comment period, with your help I will write a final report for
submission for NC approval.
To keep on track, please let me have your OK on this draft interim report
by midnight Sunday Oct 7.
Philip.
