Forgive me I haven't posted to the group for some time so might of missed
something regarding the above topic.

Has anyone thought of sharing the task of becoming a registry for one or all
of the new gTLD's. When I mean sharing I mean having an agreement between
certain registrars to manage the new gTLD's from various points on the
globe. This would be a useful concept given that the barrier to entry for
this sort of thing is a multi national company. Various registrars could be
tasked with setting up a shared global DNS for new gTLD's that would provide
redundancy across the globe and share the cost of such an implementation.
Any revenues obtained from the new gTLD's would be shared between the
relevant registrars that contribute to the new gTLD infrastructure. I would
propose that adopting the same model that is in place currently that
registrars would still need to qualify to register these domains via the
normal ICANN accreditation and that the newly formed registry would also
undergo the relevant accreditation.

Best regards.

Miesha Vukasinovic.
