[registrars] Contract Language Suggestion
Hello All:
I just wanted to make a suggestion to registrars about modifiying their
registrant contracts. These recommendations are in my capacity as
Secretariate of the Registrar Constituency trying to disseminate some useful
information to the registrar community.
One of the problems that many registrars have been encountering in the
certification process is providing a proper Registrant Agreement. Unlike the
original, .com, .net, and .org agreements the new TLDs contain various other
contract provisions (Sunrise, IP Claim, STOP, etc.) that must be
incorporated into registrars existing agreements. I spoke with Jeff Neuman
at NeuLevel and Moshe Fogel at Afilias that suggested this is a common
problem.
Several registrars have voiced concern about registrant agreements that are
growing in complexity. One registrar has taken an interesting approach by
providing an addenum for each TLD. I believe this approach allows for
scalability for future TLDs that will continue to have unique restrictions
and provisions (.NAME, .PRO, etc.).
