RE: [registrars] .info transfers from Verisign
Paul,
Thanks for the reminder.
We have transferred EPP registrations both in and out of the VeriSign
Registrar. With the introduction of new gTLDs, and given that the use of
the EPP authentication code was new, we found that many customers were
confused by the process, both for those transferring in, as well as those
wishing to transfer out.
If a customer chooses to transfer to the VeriSign Registrar, we often have
to ask them to go to their current registrar and request the EPP code. Once
they have this code, we can accomplish the transfer. Likewise, if a
customer transfers out, they will call to request their authentication code.
If we find that there is a sufficient demand to modify our systems to let
the customer get their EPP code by themselves, we will certainly consider
this. We have found that most registrars do not give the EPP code to the
registrant in an automated fashion.
Regards,
Bruce

Bruce,
Speaking of competition,
it has been another 2 months since your offer to look into
your registrar not showing auth codes EPP-registry names.
Any response yet?
Paul

Bruce,
We are getting more and more complaints
about Verisign Registrar not giving out
.info keys so that customers can transfer
.info names out of your registrar.
As you know, the transfer ability is the
basis for competition in our industry.
Please give customers the ability to transfer
.info names away. It is hard to beleive
that your company cannot implement such
a simple feature. Are other registrars
having similar trouble?

Below is one complaint:
Dear [eNom customer support]
I finally got to a 2nd Level technician who actually had to look into the
matter. His claim was that altough I was correct Network Solutions had no
mechanism in place to issue an authorization key. They said they would
inform
me of it once it was in place. He also said that they had no time frame for
when this would be completed.
I sent an e-mail to afilias to inform them that the customer support of
Network
Solutions was informing customers that Afilias was not allowing these
domains to
transfer registrars at this time. Hopefully afilias will light a fire under
Network Solutions.
Outside of that I guess there is nothing we can do.
Kind Regards,
