[registrars] Proposed GNR Whois Policy

Attached please find a proposed .name Whois policy document from GNR. As you
may recall, Karen Elizaga from GNR gave a brief presentation to the
registrars in Romania about this subject. I have been informed that GNR will
be releasing a Q&A document shortly to answer some of the questions that
they have been receiving during their outreach effort. Should you have any

MESSAGE FROM GNR:

In connection with a new proposed .name Whois structure, Global Name
Registry has consulted with many groups within and outside of the ICANN
community, and we are making every effort to ensure that we contend with all
of the issues raised.  In so consulting (which process is still ongoing), we
have been asked certain questions repeatedly and are working on a Q&A
document to ensure that these questions are addressed.  This document will
be distributed in short order.  It should be noted that as a general matter,
in conceiving of this .name Whois structure, Global Name Registry seeks to
provide a balance between the needs of legitimate Whois searchers and the
privacy of individuals.
