Subject: [registrars] Who "affordable-domains.com" is.
As is well known, they spam, massively. The usual
searches don't work; their "whois" data is phony and
a traceroute leads to China. But if you look at their
forms, they route to 66.175.45.95, which is "easy-internic.com".
And the "affordable-domains.com" FAQ refers to
"easy-internic.com" as their "mother site".
"easy-internic.com", operates out
of Mail Boxes Etc. #3033 in Salt Lake City. So
there's a place to start with court orders.
"easy-internic.com" is hosted by "abac.net"
in San Diego, CA. So there's a California connection,
and California anti-spam law applies. Also, because
the site is in California, the California criminal
law which prohibits accepting a credit card number
before disclosing the business name and address
of the business applies. Further, "easy internic"
isn't listed as a corporation with the California
Secretary of State. I'll make some calls on Monday
and see what can be done about this.
They also seem to be a reseller for OpenSRS, which
is a Verisign unit now.
