Subject: invitation to registrars

To: Interested Registrars and Registries

From: Marilyn Cade and Antonio Harris, co-chairs, WHOIS Task Force
Marilyn Cade, chair, Transfers Task Force

Recently, the WHOIS Task Force and Transfers Task Forces published
INTERIM REPORTS, posted on 10/14 and 10/15 to the DNSO site at
www.dnso.org, and also noticed via the ICANN ANNOUNCEMENT site. The
DNSO secretariat also posted these announcements to all constituencies
and the GA. Both INTERIM REPORTS will be the subject of open meetings
during the Shanghai ICANN meeting. [see below].

While these are INTERIM REPORTS/RECOMMENDATIONS, both reports need the
input, comments, and recommendations of the community broadly, but in
particular, the input of the contracted parties. Similarly, the WHOIS
Task Force INTERIM REPORT needs the input of the ccTLD community, and it
is the intent of the co-chairs to engage in further discussion and
dialogue with ccTLD managers while in Shanghai as well.

As noted, these reports will be the topic of further discussion here in
Shanghai in a number of public settings, including:
WHOIS: GA SESSION: TUESDAY - check GA schedule for time/location.
TRANSFERS: OPEN DISCUSSION/WORKSHOP, chaired by Denise Michel, includes
overview presentation by the Transfer Task Force and open discussion
with attendees at the session. Check the ICANN schedule for time/meeting
room.

We look forward to seeing you there. However, time for discussion at
these sessions is very limited.

Therefore, in order to further dialogue, and we hope better
understanding, on Sunday, October 27, representatives of the two Task
Forces are meeting at different times in Room 3C. We hope that you will
come to meet with the TF representatives so that they have an
opportunity to better understand issues, concerns, and questions that
the Registrar and Registries have regarding the INTERIM REPORTS. Not
all members of either Task Force are able to be here, however, we will
have a representative turn out from each Task Force. We are inviting
ICANN staff to attend as well, and will also invite available Board
members to join those sessions.

Transfer Task Force: 2:00 -3:00 p.m. Dialogue with Registrars and
Registries

WHOIS Task Force: 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Dialogue with Registrars and
Registries

Should you not be able to attend these sessions, and be interested in an
individual discussion, please let the chairs know and it may be possible
to work out a further session, later in the ICANN meeting, depending on
other scheduled events.
