[registrars] actions taken today in amsterdam on transfer & whois issues

Holiday greetings......

here is a brief summary of actions taken today on issues of significant concern to the registrar constituency

The NC passed two motions unanimously:

1) The Transfers TF report was accepted and it was agreed to form and
implementation committee made up of mostly registrars and registries with a
liaison (preferably a user) from the TF.  The implementation committee will
initially be chaired by Bruce Tonkin until the committee selects its own
chair.  It has a deadline of 30 January to submit implementation details.
The NC will act on the recommendations in its February meeting in time for
action by the ICANN board in Rio in March. (We need to select reps for this
committee as soon as possible (no firm  number of reps was decided
so it is probably up to us and the registry constituancy to decide the size of the group)

2) The Whois TF report will not be accepted until February.  A similar
impementation committee will be formed for the Whois recommendations made by
the TF with similar time frames as for Transfers.

best wishes
