RE: [registrars] Nomination
Thanks for thinking of me. I would be honoured to do this.
I don't know if folks want a long-winded "pick me because", but there is one
point I wanted to make here. There is something extremely important that I
think I can bring to this process that I believe makes me uniquely qualified
for this position (much as I like Henning and Richard, especially after
Richard's "hospitality" in Shanghai!). That is, the folks that I think I can
attract, through personal relationships, to the Board of Directors.
I have been running Tucows for roughly six years now and in that time have
been lucky enough to have met and formed relationships with a number of
leading members of the Internet community, not just the DNS community. I
believe that I will be able to excite some of them about the prospect of
serving ICANN. To me, perhaps the greatest challenge in the ICANN reform
process will be attracting great people to serve on the board. The better
the calibre of the board and its members, the higher quality the
decision-making process will be. Any of you who have had to deal with boards
of directors to any degree will immediately know and understand this.
It of course follows that the higher the quality of the decision-making the
more effective and efficient all of our businesses will be. It is a dream of
mine that this whole process become something much more effective than it
currently is. I think this role is extremely well suited to the contribution
I can make to the benefit of all Registrars. Thanks again.
Our nomcom rep has choosing and attracting board members as their primary
role. I believe I can bring the most to this.
