[registrars] ICANN meeting in Montreal

To the registrars:
(Please forward this to others in the GNSO and the CCSO.)

The Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA, www.cira.ca) will be
hosting an ICANN meeting in Montreal (Canada) from June 22 to 27, 2003.
Information on the event is available at www.icannmontreal.ca. Given
Montreal's close proximity to major U.S. metropolitan centers, attractive
Canadian dollar exchange rates, and Montreal's internationally recognized
charm, it is expected that this meeting will be well attended by industry
stakeholders from all continents.

As a member of the CIRA Board of Directors and the Local Host Steering
Committee, you should be aware of the following opportunities:

GENERAL SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The sponsorship program posted at www.icannmontreal.ca/en/sponsorship.html
is designed to be adaptable to the needs of small and large organizations
wishing to position themselves as Internet leaders and champions of business
relationships fostered through
ICANN gatherings. As such, the ICANN June 2003 sponsorship program offers
small and large businesses a great deal of flexibility.

Industry recognition and visibility can be secured through relatively small
promotional investments. With sponsorships ranging from $1,000 to $10,000
USD, we hope you will be able to consider one or several opportunities. As
some organizations may have specific promotional goals, CIRA will be pleased
to customize or bundle sponsorship options to meet your needs.

EVENING EVENT ORGANIZATION OR SPONSORSHIP
The ICANN meeting will be held from Sunday June 22 to Thursday June 26,
2003. CIRA will holding its host reception on the evening of Monday June
23. The Local Host Committee is seeking interest from businesses and
organizations interested in leading the organization of other evening events
on June 24 or 25.

Montreal has a great deal to offer visitors.

One highly recommended night out venue is Bar 737
(www.worldsbestbars.com/city/Montreal/Altitude737.asp) at the top of Place
Ville Marie--one of Montreal's tallest buildings (see
www.skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?c22). The cost per person for such an
outing would be about $60 USD (food and beverages included).

There is no shortage of evening venues in Montreal. The Local Host
Committee would
assist with ticket sales and local administrative details. All we need is
an interested party to take the lead!

The Local Host Committee is also seeking interest from business and
organizations wishing to sponsor onsite evening receptions at the meeting
venue, Le Centre Sheraton (www.sheraton.com/lecentre).

Please feel free to write/call CIRA's Director of Communications, Gabriel
Ahad (gabriel.ahad@cira.ca, 613-235-0300 x235), who is handling the
organization of the meeting for CIRA, or myself, if you wish to discuss any
of these opportunities.

Also, you should be aware that the international jazz festival is on at
about the time of the ICANN meeting, from June 26 to July 6
(www.montrealjazzfest.com), and the locals celebrate the Fête National
(Saint-Jean Baptiste Day) on June 21st. The town will be jumping. It is also
the summer solstice, so the days will be long. If you do plan to organize an
event - and I encourage registrars and registries and anyone else to do so -
consult locally and start early.

Best regards,

Timothy Denton,
