Subject: [registrars] Update on GNSO elections of seats #14 and #13
Hello All,
Michael Palage was declared elected to seat #14 of the new ICANN Board
(which is expcted to be seated for the June meeting in Montreal) at the
GNSO Council meeting on 17 Apr 03.
See: http://www.icann.org/minutes/secretarys-notice-18apr03.htm
The election process has now begun for seat #13.
The candidate for seat #13 must be a citizen from a different geographic
region to the candidate elected to seat #14. Thus the candidate for
seat #13 must be from outside North America.
Alejandro Pisanty has confirmed that he will stand for seat #13. Philip
Sheppard and Barbara Simons have withdrawn.
There will now be a 7 day period for council members to nominate any
additional candidates, before the election begins (see below for
details).
In the recent registrar vote concerning seat #14, there was support for
both Michael and Alejandro, with Michael having the most support.
Please let the GNSO Council reps (Bruce Tonkin, Ken Stubbs, and Thomas
Keller) know if you believe that an additional candidate should be
nominated.
In the absence of strong advice to the contrary, the GNSO Council reps
will use the results of the recent registrar constituency vote as
guidance (ie Alejandro as the preferred candidate for seat #13).
Regards,
Bruce Tonkin
