Generic TLDs - gTLDs, each with its charter for registration

• To register a domain name in the .aero, .biz, .com, .coop, .info, .museum, .name, .net, .org, .pro domains, please contact one of the ICANN Accredited Registrars: http://www.icann.org/registrars/accredited-list.html

Restricted generic TLDs - gTLDs

• The .gov domain http://www.nic.gov is reserved exclusively for the United States Government.

• The .mil domain http://www.nic.mil is reserved exclusively for the United States Military.

• The .edu domain http://www.nsi.com is registered only through Network Solutions.

• The .int domain http://www.iana.org/int.html is used only for registering organizations established by international treaties between governments or Internet infrastructure databases (for example to do address to name lookups based on NSAPs). If you believe you meet these qualifications and want to apply for a domain name under .int, please send the IANA a description of your organization including a reference to the treaty that established it or click http://www.iana.org/int-reg.html for the online application. Please note that the online application must be supplemented with a reference to the treaty which established it.

Country code TLDs - ccTLDs

• To register a domain name in a country code TLD (such as .br, .ca, .cn, .de, .fr, .jp, .mg, .mx, uk, ... ), please contact the corresponding ccTLD registry: http://www.iana.org/cctld/cctld.htm.

  III. A request for the inclusion of a country name (or the name of
       a dependent area) in ISO 3166-1 must originate from the national
       government of the country or from the national standards body
       of that country. The ISO 3166/MA rejects any request which is
       not accompanied by a written statement from the national goverment
       explicitly agreeing to and supporting the request.
  

• The secretariat of the ISO 3166/MA moved from DIN in Berlin, DE, to the ISO Central Secretariat in Geneva, CH, at the beginning of December 2001.

  The task of the ISO 3166/MA is to maintain and update ISO 3166, the International Country Code Standard. The ISO 3166/MA consists of a small number of experts delegated by organizations who closely cooperate with ISO. The ISO 3166/MA is the prime source for reliable information on ISO 3166.

  The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies from more than 140 countries, one from each country.
