[comments-deletes] Flawed Recommendation 3.1.2
Recommendation 3.1.2 is seriously flawed. As currently written it states:
"Domain names must be deleted within 45 days of the expiration of the
registration agreement between the registrar and registrant, unless the
agreement is renewed."
Allowing a variable time frame for deletions (any given date within that
45-day period) will create registrant confusion, and will create an incentive
for registrars to put through delete commands immediately upon the start of
the Auto-Renewal Grace period in order to take advantage of the lucrative
opportunities provided by the Redemption Grace period (as exemplified by the
$200 charges now being administered by certain registrars to restore the
domain name).
A recommended revision: Domain names must be deleted on the 45th day
following the expiration of the registration agreement between the registrar
and registrant, unless the agreement is renewed.
