[comments-gtlds] Sovereign nation, sovereign DNS
ICANN
Comment RE: Sovereign nation domain names
To whom it may concern:
As a professional in the network industry and a member of the sovereign
First Nations of this land, I would like to argue that we be treated as
others are, and receive a top level DNS that is exclusive to our use.
Recently I was made aware certain financial concerns have purchased our
tribal names to sell back to us as .com; last year the Makah nation's
website was plagiarized by the same "environmental" group which published
the tshirts, "Save a whale, kill a Makah" and who managed to remain an .org
by their 501c3 despite their hate crimes. We are not commercial
'organizations', and do not intend to remain non-profit, however bad that
joke might seem. We are a culture of peoples that has existed since time
began, with sovereign governing bodies, laws and languages. We are distinct
governments and would like to be accorded the same respect those of other
continents enjoy. Thank you for listening.
